Gifts of the Spirit

Today’s Verse:
All these [gifts] are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses. – 1 Corinthians 12:11

1 Corinthians 12 is all about spiritual gifts.

Spiritual gifts are specifically grace-aligned, individualistic gifts that are appointed by God. These gifts enable believers to build up the Kingdom, glorify God, build up and serve one another. This fits perfectly with what is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:14, “Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many.” The hand, ear, eye, nose, etc all play an extremely important role in the body that the other cannot play. They have individually appointed functions.

We receive our spiritual gifts once the Holy Spirit has descended upon us (baptism). Romans 12:6, “We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us…”

Not only does God specialize our gifts in the body of Christ, but He gifts us with the gifts that bring out the best parts of us. The parts that He knows will glorify the Kingdom in miraculous ways.

Keep in mind, the deceiver knows your spiritual gifts. He’ll try to do everything in his power to stop you from using them so stay diligent, share your gifts, and always give God the glory. – Commentary by Kristina Taylor

Today’s Prayer:
Lord, we pray that You prepare our hearts to accept the gifts and the role You want for us no matter what it is. Help us to use what You have gifted us with to build each other up and to always glorify You. Amen.
